about

One cold autumn morning, I decided my need of a workforce could no longer go unnoticed. I went out in search of the peasants who used to inhabit the land of Cairnkeep Castle.
As I travelled along the old path to their village, an eerie, cold fog rose to greet me. My armour may protect against swords, but against the cold it is worthless.
After a few hours, I arrived at the village. Scarcely a soul was their. I learned from an old man they were out hunting, the crops alone could not sustain them, and they were soon leaving their village to go south. I felt their restlessness even in their absence.
I stayed until noon, and I realized it was to no avail. These peasants would not work for me. This excursion had been in vain.
There was nothing to do but return to the castle, and try to get warm again by the hearth.
